ALBA Robot, a startup founded in 2019 by Andrea Bertaia and Giacomo Moiso, announces the closing of a new investment round aimed at accelerating its growth and consolidating its position as a key player in autonomous mobility for pedestrian environments.
With this new round, which follows an initial €2.6 million seed investment completed in 2023 by the Cysero EuVECA Fund managed by AVM SGR, ALBA Robot will continue its evolution from a technology platform to a mobility provider, expanding its services for the autonomous movement of people, goods, and data.
Over the past 18 months, ALBA Robot has carried out 11 paid pilot projects, two of which have already been converted into commercial services, with two more expected by the end of the year. Having validated its technology and operational model in some of the world’s major international airports, the company will now extend testing to new facilities and use cases, including outdoor environments. The 2026 roadmap includes:
- the introduction of a new generation of smart robots, developed in collaboration with leading Italian design studios;
- the launch of premium passenger services and advanced platforms for sharing and valorization the data collected by its sensor network
On the international front, ALBA Robot is strengthening its presence in the United States: in addition to its operational base at Newlab Detroit, the company has recently incorporated a C-Corp in Delaware – a strategic step to accelerate entry into the North American market. Negotiations are already underway for new projects and for the launch of the first made in USA robot production.
“This investment marks the beginning of a new growth phase. Starting from airports, we aim to expand our services and become the ‘Waymo of pedestrian areas’.” said Andrea Bertaia, CEO & Co-Founder of ALBA Robot. “A heartfelt thanks to Giovanna Dossena, Luca Todesco and Edoardo Bosio of AVM Gestioni, Mario Alparone of Finpiemonte and Piemonte Next, and the entire CDP Venture Capital team, whose support goes far beyond the financial aspect.”
“We are proud to invest in ALBA Robot, reaffirming our trust in the team and the potential of their technology,” said Alessandro Scortecci, Chief Direct Investments at CDP Venture Capital. “We strongly believe that, through international expansion and the development of new services, ALBA Robot can continue to refine cutting-edge solutions that integrate robotics and artificial intelligence, offering a concrete contribution to improving the quality of life for people with reduced mobility.”
“We are particularly pleased to support the growth of ALBA Robot, a company that perfectly represents our region’s capacity for innovation. Through the investment made via the Piemonte Next fund, and thanks to the strategic role of regional instruments co-financed by the FESR programs, Finpiemonte has believed from the start in a project that combines technology, inclusion, and social impact. ALBA Robot’s journey demonstrates how collaboration between the public and private sectors can generate tangible value, fostering the emergence of cutting-edge solutions in the field of autonomous and assisted mobility,” commented Mario Alparone, General Director of Finpiemonte
