The event “Europe is going Italian” gathering in Milan 50 national and international VC funds. It was an opportunity for dialogue with national and international institutions and GPs on the strategic role of CDP Venture Capital’s International Fund of Funds in positioning Italy on the European VC landscape. The event opened with institutional greetings from the Ministero delle Imprese e del Made in Italy Deputy Minister Valentino Valentini saying "Venture Capital isn't just finance, it's a strategic economic policy, it's how we compete globally in the 20th century". Then, CDP Cassa Depositi e Prestiti Chairman Giovanni Gorno Tempini recalled that “Europe is rich in academic talent, industrial depth, and entrepreneurial culture. The priority is to strengthen the ecosystem with greater collaboration to make the market more attractive to international investors in order to exchange best practices and build partnerships”. During the session “Italy's moment: why now is the time to invest,” during which CDP Venture Capital’s CEO Emanuele Levi explained that "Italy’s ecosystem now offers an unprecedented quality of deal flow, with startups scaling globally. The moment has come to attract more international investment and foster partnerships between Italian players and global actors to fully leverage a pan-European venture capital market". This was followed by two business-oriented fireside chats. The first, “From Italy to Europe and back: how internationalization drives business growth”, featured Andrea Di Camillo P101, Matthieu Baret Eurazeo, Alessio Beverina Panakes Partners, Graziano Seghezzi Sofinnova Partners Massimiliano Magrini United Ventures. The second panel, “From seed to scale – stories of Italian startups going global” involved Luca Rodella Smartness, Gianluca D'Agostino The Techshop SGR Philippe Collombel Partech Partners. Three successful Italian scaleups gave then their elevator speech: Energy Dome by Claudio Spadacini, WSENSE by Chiara Petrioli and Spoki by Giorgio Pagliara. The event was concluded by CDP Cassa Depositi e Prestiti CEO and General Manager Dario Scannapieco who emphasized that “Venture capital is a structural pillar of our Strategic Plan: it connects research to markets, talent to opportunities, and Italy to global innovation flows. CDP is actively supporting innovation, which has made significant progress even in the face of global difficulties”.
