INTRODUCING CDP VENTURE CAPITAL – FONDO NAZIONALE INNOVAZIONE

Francesca Bria named President; Enrico Resmini is Chief Executive Officer

Rome, January 21, 2020 - At a shareholders’ meeting of Invitalia Ventures (70% CDP Equity, 30% Invitalia), held in both ordinary and extraordinary session, the company name was changed to CDP Venture Capital Sgr S.p.A., new members were appointed to the Board of Directors, and Francesca Bria was named President.​

In a subsequent meeting, the Board of Directors named Enrico Resmini Chief Executive Officer and General Manager of the company. Slated to remain in their positions until approval of the December 31, 2022 accounts, the Board members are as follows:

CDP Venture Capital – Fondo Nazionale Innovazione is an essential part of CDP’s 2019 – 2021 industrial plan. It aims to accelerate growth of the Italian Venture Capital ecosystem, bringing it up to speed with the top European countries (and other comparable economies) in terms of invested capital, as well as by increasing the number and quality of operators involved.​
Chief among CDP Venture Capital’s goals are:​

  • to expand direct and indirect investments, fostering the emergence of new funds that will invest in startups at all developmental phases, from early stage to growth capital​
  • to promote the development of new investment tools that will help facilitate processes such as technological transfers from universities/research institutes, as well as the active involvement of Italian businesses through “Corporate Venture Capital
  • to support the overall growth of the Venture Capital market, promoting and facilitating connections between national and international investors and startups, allowing for exchange and education on the sector’s opportunities and challenges​
  • to encourage interactions between startups and the CDP Group’s investee companies, expanding customer and market opportunities for new enterprises, and offering major Italian companies access to innovative thinkers and entrepreneurs​
