Galaxia

Galaxia is the National Technology Transfer Hub for the development of new companies in the Aerospace sector, established in partnership with Obloo, a company with a significant track record of early-stage investments in deeptech and technology transfer start-ups, which will be in charge of scouting, due diligence and execution of investments, as well as portfolio monitoring, and with the contribution of its scientific promoters, Politecnico di TorinoLa Sapienza University in Rome and other leading universities such as Padua University and Politecnico di Bari. Agreements with corporate partners are currently being finalised.

The Hub will have target funds for an overall amount of 30 million euros over the next four years to invest in more than 30 new companies in proof-of-concept and seed stages.

The market application areas on which Galaxia's activities will be focused range from upstream solutions - such as thrusters, rockets and satellites, sub-orbital spacecraft, telemetry tools and technologies for mission control centres - to downstream solutions - remote sensing technologies for Earth observation, satellite communication and navigation technologies and integrated applications of satellite navigation systems for specific applications - as well as enabling technologies and the space-to-ground (spin-out) and ground-to-space (spin-in) transfer of key technologies.

Researchers from universities acting as scientific promoters of the Hub will have access to proof-of-concept investments and will benefit from a specialised technical incubation service guaranteed by Obloo with the aim of promoting the market launch of the inventions produced by research.

In addition, Obloo, together with Lazio Innova and the Politecnico di Torino’s I3P Incubator, will coordinate the business creation programme made available nationwide for all start-ups resulting from research activities that will be selected by the Hub for seed investments. Technical incubation and business creation services will also involve the European Space Agency (ESA) and the Italian Space Agency (ASI) as Galaxia's Technical Advisors.
